Thirteen(13) bodies out of twenty(20) children who were drowned in the sea at Apam beach have been retrieved.
The 13 bodies out of 20 were retrieved on Monday, 8th March 2021. Twenty Children were feared dead in the sea at Apam which is located at Gomoa West District of the Central Region of Republic of Ghana. This incident occurred on Sunday, 7th March 2021 at around 5:00pm when children between the ages of 14 and 17 years of age went to the Apam sea shore to swim.
According to sources, it is an event the children themselves organizes on almost every Sunday to swim in the sea but that day, they went too closer to where the gods of Apam has been kept with the intentions of hiding themselves from been seen by people who might have prevented them from swimming.
Two of the children where rescued alive by the Rescue Team and are receiving treatment at St. Luke Catholic Hospital at Apam. This was made known by the Apam Police Commander. He added that the bodies of the children whose life could not be saved have been deposited at the Morgue of the same hospital. The remaining bodies are still in the sea. He added.
