Despite all these facts, some people are still disregarding the various protocols that have been aligned to contain the virus.
In an interview, the DCE of Birim North District made it known that a pastor of Jericho chapel at Akyem Ntronang Zongo within the District has also tested positive for COVID-19.
According to him, the pastor refused to isolate himself after it was made known to him that he has tested positive to COVID-19.
He added that, the pastor who was to go into isolation whiles he receives medical care refused and was seen on Sunday, 14th June, 2020 having church service with church members.
The DCE however said that arrangement is been made to take the said pastor into an Isolation Centre within the District. Samples of the various church members present has been taken and contact tracing has been initiated.
He advised that church members of the said church should go into self isolation whiles contact tracing goes on.
He said one person within the District has died as a result of COVID-19. According to the DCE, the said pastor had contact with the person who has died out of COVID-19
He additionally added that, one person tested positive from 13 samples from an infected person's contact tracing.
Meanwhile, the 91 year old man who tested positive and was taken to Legon for medical care has fully recovered.
He admonished the people within the district to stop trooping to church especially those who attend "Pray for me" kind of church.
Again, he advised people within the Birim North District to observed all the protocols and erase the myth from their mind that the disease is not real so as to contain the virus.
Moreover, he said the District Assembly is going to collaborate with the Ghana Police service to ensure strict adherence to all protocols.
