UEW Students Set To Embark On Massive Demonstration On Monday

Level 400 students of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has set Monday, September 26, 2022 to embark on a peaceful demonstrations against the University's authorities to register their disatisfaction over their examination results and transcripts.

According to an unknown source, the examination results of the level 400 students have been altered which has affected their GPA, a situation the students consider unfortunate and unbearable.

According to information available, most of the students could not see their results and GPA right from level 100 through to level 300. Those who could see few of their results said their results have been altered and has affected their GPAs.

Due to what the students consider as anomaly, some of the students who genuinely had no resit were asked to resit for a course without knowing whether they indeed failed that particular course.

Again, since some of the students could not see their results from first year, they could not tell whether they had failed a course or not. They came back from interntionship only to be told that they had resit from first year.

"How do you expect level 400 students to rewrite a paper he/she could not pass in level 100 in level 400." Some lamented bitterly.

Many describe the situation as unbearable and a situation that does not befit UEW.

According to the aggrieved students, they have no option than to resort to demonstration since according to them, that is the only language understood by authorities.

From the look of things, it seems the level 400 students have received several promises from University authorities to fix the issues but still nothing has been done.

"We don't have much time left, and we're not going to accept any promises because this issue has been there for almost four years now. The former VC himself promised during our time in Level 200 2nd semester that our portal will be fixed but nothing happened." They added

The students have caption the demonstration, “FIX OUR TRANSCRIPTS NOW”.

They are therefore inviting all Level 400 students of UEW to come out in their numbers to support this good agenda.

An article circulating on social media, where a student whose identity is yet to be known said ”Please it has become necessary for us to deploy any nonviolent means necessary to let our voices heard.

According to sources, students have mobilized themselves to embark on their agenda.

Outline for the peaceful demonstration;

Therefore, this is a proposed line of action for consideration;

1. Let's create awareness from now onwards.

2. We declare #LEVEL400GOESRED from Monday onwards.

3. Petitioning of the Dean of student's affairs and the Vice Chancellor.

4. All other means including legal options will be looked into when it becomes necessary.

Please, let's remain resolute and stay united as we can.

We will do this for we're in this together.”
