 In a monumental decision, the Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba, has announced the appointment of Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual as the next Vice-Chancellor. This appointment comes after a meeting held on 1st August 2023, where Prof. Mitchual's extensive experience and remarkable achievements in the higher education sector were recognized.

Prof. Mitchual, a distinguished Professor of Wood Science and Technology, brings over 20 years of teaching and administrative expertise to his new role. His impressive educational background includes a PhD in Wood Science and Technology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), an MSc. in Wood Technology and Management, and a BSc. in Agriculture Engineering, all obtained from KNUST.

Throughout his tenure with the University of Education, Winneba, and the Akenten-Appiah Minkah University of Science and Technology Education (AAMUSTED), Prof. Mitchual has held numerous esteemed positions. Notably, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Mathematics Education, Dean of the Faculty of Technical Education, Vice-Dean of Student Affairs, Head of the Department of Construction and Wood Technology Education, and Examinations Officer. Currently, he holds the position of Ag. Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Ag. Dean of the School of Graduate Studies at AAMUSTED.

Prof. Mitchual's contributions to academia extend beyond his administrative responsibilities. As an exceptional academic, he has taught and supervised projects at both the undergraduate and graduate levels for over two decades. His areas of specialization encompass wood biomass-energy, wood machining, sawmill safety, and technical education issues. His dedication to research is evident through his publication of several studies in esteemed international journals.

Being a member of prominent professional organizations such as the Society of Wood Science and Technology, USA, American Association for Precision Engineering, USA, Ghana Science Association, and the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants, Ghana, Prof. Mitchual exemplifies the highest standards of scholarship and expertise.
