The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has taken the difficult decision to withdraw more than 36 students due to their inability to meet the institution’s academic requirements. This information was contained in an internal memo issued by the Acting Head of Department (HOD) to faculty members.
According to the memo, the affected students did not achieve the university’s minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 1.0 or had failed more courses than permitted, even after resit opportunities. A thorough review of their academic records from the 2023/2024 academic year led to this outcome, with efforts made to provide counseling before the final decision was enforced.
As a result, the students will no longer be able to attend Level 200 lectures or participate in any upcoming mid-semester or end-of-semester examinations. Faculty members have been advised to make the necessary adjustments in their course registers to reflect these changes.
All these students are from the department of social science
Signed by Dr. Mohammed Adam, the Acting HOD, the memo underscores the university’s commitment to upholding academic excellence while ensuring that students meet the required standards to progress in their education.
