According to report from the University's authorities, allegations were raised against the aforementioned student to have engaged in examination malpractice. A committee was then set to investigate the allegations levelled against the student to prove the truth of the allegations or otherwise. According report, the allegations were found out to be true with evidence. This according to the University statutes, section 57(b) (ii) and (iv) constitutes misconducts and has consequently brought the name of the University into disrepute.
Due to this, the Vice Chancellor on the recommendation of the Committee, and in accordance with Penalties specified in Section 57(c) of the University's Statutes (Oct. 2004) has rasticated the student for one academic year with effect from the first semester 2022/2023 academic year. The said paper will also be cancelled and be rewritten when the student returns to the institution starting from first semester of 2023/2024 academic year.
Rusticated means: suspended.
The effects of the decision is that the said student has been suspended and base on the stated period, it will be for one academic year. This means the student cannot graduate with his year group.
This decision taken will help to restraint students from engaging in such canker which is becoming the new normal especially in the pre-tertiary institutions in the country. Indeed KNUST has demonstrated beyond doubt that they are one of such University that does not condone with misconducts.
